🔹 9 Dots (@9dotscommunity)is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, committed to ensuring all students within underserved communities have the opportunity to engage in transformative computer science education. We believe young girls and students of color can be the next generation of tech leaders, and we want to equip them with the skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century.
🔹 The mission of the Snap Inc. Institute for Technology & Education (SITE) (@csudhsite) is to make high-quality, standard-aligned computer science (CS) an integral part of the educational experience of all preservice teachers and K-12 students in the Los Angeles area.
🔹 Genfinity Cyber Academy (@genfinitycyber) empowers the next generation of digital citizens through engaging, hands-on cybersecurity and coding education. Our mission is to make online safety, digital literacy, and cyber skills accessible to youth of all backgrounds. We prepare them to protect themselves, their communities, and their futures in a connected world.

What is the second-largest open space within the city limits of Los Angeles?
🌱 Why, Ballona Wetlands of course!
Ecosystem Manager Madeline Stewart joined Carolyn and Xiomara from LA STEM member organization Friends of Ballona Wetlands (@ballonafriends) for a nature walk through the Ballona State Ecological Reserve’s saltwater marsh.
As lizards darted across the path, and a Great Egret and a Great Blue Heron picked their way through the marshland, we discussed the history of this land and current efforts to restore native species. Carolyn pointed out an area where fellow LA STEM member organization LA Conservation Corps (@lacorps) had removed invasive trees several years ago; now the area was lushly populated with native plants. We finished the walk with a stop at the Ballona Creek Trash Interceptor—what a sight!

🩺 The Scholar Angels Inc. empowers high school and community college students from underserved backgrounds to pursue careers in STEM and medicine through mentorship, research access, and professional development. We connect students with college faculty, research labs, and industry leaders to bridge opportunity gaps and foster long-term academic and career success.
🥼 STEM Careers Unlocked (@stemcareersunlocked) is a weekly newsletter designed to help STEM students break into the Biotech, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Device industry. This year’s Black Education Expo was an incredible event! Hosted in the Pasadena Convention Center, the Expo included:
✅ breakout sessions for students, teens, and families,
✅ over 80 organizations offering resources, and
✅ speeches from local leaders including City of Pasadena Mayor Gordo, Councilmember Hampton, and Congressmember Judy Chu
We were so excited to see so many LA STEM Member organizations at the event, including @south.la.robotics @laepcommunity @innoplaytion @nsbelosangeles @blackgirlscode @petersenmuseum @specialneedsnetwork and more.
Thank you to the BEE team for putting on such a wonderful event — we can’t wait for next year!

💧The Water Replenishment District (@wrdsocal) utilizes groundwater aquifers to create a locally sustainable water supply for the Los Angeles Basin region.
🌳 @soundof.earth is a Southern California-based sustainable event and media organization. We combine live arts, strategic local partnerships, artificial intelligence, and experiential education for all ages to advance climate action at individual and organizational scales.
📚At @horizon.marketing_, we bring programs to life with impactful marketing and outreach strategies worldwide. Our expertise lies in on-the-ground engagement, ensuring communities understand and benefit from the solutions available to them.
🌎 @climateinteractive creates user-friendly climate simulators and uses these simulators to advance understanding of climate change solutions through interactive workshops, role-playing games, and events led by our team and an international network of trained facilitators. Our models and experiences are used by educators and advocates all over the country, including in Los Angeles.

Amgen Biotech Experience is an educational biotechnology program that empowers teachers to bring hands-on biotechnology curriculum into their classrooms. The complete ABE curriculum includes 6 labs that teach students how to make a protein by genetically modifying bacteria. The labs follow the same procedure used by scientists to create medicines, like insulin, to treat diseases.
